FAQs about LEJRELET

What is the cover of the positioning and support cushions made of?

The cover of the cushions is made of a material called Polyurethane coated polyester, which is a light polyester material that has a fire-retardant polyurethane coating on both sides. Furthermore, the cover is treated with a water-repellent agent.

What kind of filling is used in the LEJRELET cushions?

The LEJRELET Tube 125, Tube 250, Pad Low and Oval are all made of 100 % viscoelastic foam. The foam is pressure relieving, provides a large support surface and high comfort for the client, as the foam forms in the desired position.

LEJRELET Wedge and Pad High are both made with a core of polyurethane foam covered with visco-elastic foam. This combination makes the cushions firm and supportive as well as provides an effective pressure relieving quality.

Can I remove the cover from the positioning cushions?

No, you can not. All the covers are either welded or sewn together. The only model with a zipper is the LEJRELET Pad High. It is made that way purely out of constructional reasons. The cover is not intended to be removed and we do not sell spare covers for the cushions separately.

Are the LEJRELET cushions slip-resistant?

Yes, they are. The cushions' cover does not budge or move around on the sheet. This ensures that the positioning remains secure and that the client stays in the desired position for as long as needed.

Can I cover the support cushions with a regular pillowcase?

We recommend that you avoid putting a regular pillowcase around the positioning cushions as it will reduce the cushion's slip-resistance and its vapour permeable properties. That will in turn build up heat and create maceration. The regular pillowcase may also create creases which will reduce the cushion's pressure relieving properties. The LEJRELET cushions have their own cover that stretches in two ways and therefore allows the foam to ensure optimal pressure relief. If you choose to cover the LEJRELET cushions with a regular pillowcase you will lose most of their unique potential!

How can the support cushions be both vapour permeable and waterproof?

Waterproof/vapour permeable membranes, which is what the LEJRELET cushions are made of, have microscopic pores. These pores are too small to allow solid water molecules (water) to penetrate the membranes but big enough to allow air water molecules (water vapour) to go through. This means that the moist air from the body when sweating can pass through the cover's pores but if you pour water on the cushion, it will not be able to seep through.

What does it mean that the cover of the positioning cushions are biocompatible?

It means that the cover of the LEJRELET cushions complies with the ISO 10993-5, which ensures that it is not harmful to the skin and therefore is ideal to use in care situations.

What does it mean that the cover of the LEJRELET cushions is Oeko-tex, class 1?

It means that the cover of the LEJRELET cushions does not contain substances that are carcinogenic, endocrine disrupting or otherwise harmful to your health.

What does it mean that the cover of the support cushions is fire-retardant?

The cover of the positioning cushions has been tested according to 2 standards (BS 7175 and EN 597), which describe situations where a fire could occur. These tests demonstrate that the cover of the LEJRELET cushions can withstand the dropping of a cigarette or a burning match without it catching fire.

What does it mean that the positioning cushions are anti-bacteria treated?

It means that the cover is treated with a substance that prohibits bacteria from settling and growing on the surface. This is particularly advantageous for care situations.

How can the cover of the LEJRELET cushions be dust mite proof?

The structure of the cover is so compact that dust mites can not pass through it. The cover of the positioning cushions has therefore not been treated with a repellent agent.

How do I clean the LEJRELET cushions?

The positioning cushions can be wiped with soapy water and disinfecting liquids or they can be poured over with boiling water. We recommend that you do not machine wash the positioning cushions as the water can seep through the seams after which the foam would need a lot of time to dry.

Can I machine wash the positioning cushions?

We recommend that you do not machine wash the positioning cushions as the water can seep through the seams after which the foam would need a lot of time to dry.

Can I use the same support cushions with multiple clients?

Yes. The support cushions have been treated with an anti-bacterial agent and can be wiped with soapy water or disinfecting liquids when they need to be cleaned. This means that they are suitable for being used in an environment where bodily fluids are often in contact with the cushions.

Which positioning cushions can I use for tissue relief?

All of our positioning cushions have tissue-relieving properties. You can therefore use all of our cushions for different kinds of tissue relief. Where the pressure ulcer or tissue damage is located as well as the client's mobility determines which positioning cushion is most advantageous to use. You can look at our website for more information.

Which positioning cushions can I use for knee break?

We recommend that you make a knee break with positioning cushions instead of with the bed's profiling properties, as the dimensions of the bed's knee break rarely fit the individual client and therefore the bed's break won't be where the client's knee break is. We recommend that you use the LEJRELET Pad High and the LEJRELET Wedge to create a knee break.

Which positioning cushions can I use for lower hygiene?

To create the most space for cleaning the lower parts of the body, it would be beneficial to use the LEJRELET Pad High. This support cushion is specifically designed so that the client's hip joint can relax when put upon the cushion. If the client has problems lying securely or exhibits aggressive behaviour, the LEJRELET Pad High can be combined with the LEJRELET Wedge to make a secure and calming positioning for the client.

Is there any evidence to prove the positioning cushions' pressure relieving properties?

At Vendlet ApS, we believe in the importance of evidence and documentation and therefore, we always have studies to prove the benefits of our products. If you look at pressure relieving based on the knowledge found in the latest studies, it becomes evident that using duvets and pillows to relieve pressure and tissue is illogical. The LEJRELET cushions have been tested in a German nursing home specializing in tissue damage.
